Non League Football


Non league football describes football played at an amateur level, typically in the UK where it is a very popular past time. Teams of non league football players regularly compete against each other in amateur tournaments which usually take place on Sunday mornings. The term non league football could also be used to describe any casual game of football, but it usually used to refer to the amateur Sunday league game.

 

The standard of play in non league football is typically significantly lower than that seen in professional leagues, but many people play non league football regardless of their ability simply because they enjoy it. Teams in non league football are usually comprised of local enthusiasts and groups of friends. It is not uncommon for local pubs to field to a non league football team made up of their regulars and members of staff who will then compete against other local pub teams in a small tournament. There are also a number of youth’s non league football teams as well, which is where many professional players first developed their love of the game. Some local companies and business also organise non league football teams for their employees.

 

Hackney Marsh in London is renowned for the number of non league football players that congregate their on Sunday mornings, as there are over eighty full sized football pitches there available for public use. Typically over one hundred games of non league football will take place there on a Sunday.
